Crafting a digital brand that works

September 2022

Digital branding is key to creating a successful business with a loyal customer base. The term digital branding is one that you will hear frequently in the world of business, yet many people struggle to understand exactly what makes a digital brand work.

The truth is that digital branding is far more than flashy logos and catchy slogans; there is an art to a good digital branding campaign. A brand is the personality of a business and covers everything from logos to the way that you interact with customers. Branding should tell a story about who you are and why people should buy your products/services. This blog will tell you how to create a digital brand that works.

Create a clear message

When consumers buy into a brand, they are buying into what that brand stands for and the message that it sends across through advertising and other campaigns. To create a digital brand that works, you need to establish a clear message that will resonate with your audience and meet their needs.

For example, many brands are recently hopping on the ‘green’ bandwagon and are starting to alter their brand message so that it falls in line with consumer’s desires to buy goods that are environmentally friendly. Brands that associate themselves with this ensure that their mission to be eco friendly is clear throughout their branding. Digital brands will of course have alternative messages and aims to this. You should think about what it is that your company stands for and make sure that your aims are clear throughout your branding.

Know what makes your brand unique

The digital market is busier than it has ever been, so for your brand to be a success, you will need to have a unique selling point that helps you to stand out from the crowd. The best way to decide what this will be is to do some competitor research. Look into the brands that you will be competing with and try to work out what it is that they could improve on or if they are failing to meet any of their customers' needs. Once you have carried out this research, you could think about ways that your brand could fill this gap and appeal to those customers.

Having a unique selling point is what will encourage customers to start buying from your brand, instead of pre-existing brands. However, you should also make sure that your brand doesn’t stray too far from what other brands have proven works. Ensure that you apply strategies and methods that are popular with customers, even if they are already being done by other brands. You should aim to be unique but still relevant.

Engage with your audience

Digital products often struggle to create strong connections with customers than physical products do because there is rarely any in-person contact between the customer and the brand. To make your digital brand successful, you should make sure that customers still feel seen by your brand and that you regularly find ways to engage with them.

Social media is a great tool for customer engagement. You could run giveaways, polls or even competitions on your social media platforms. You could also use social media to reach out to customers by starting conversations in comments sections or hosting live videos that your customers can interact with. Engaging with your customers is the best way to ensure their loyalty and convince them to continuously return to your brand.
